Neymar helps Brazil stay perfect
Qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Result: Brazil 2-0 Ecuador

Brazil claimed five wins from five matches in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 2-0 victory over Ecuador on Friday.
The Seleçao included Carlos Casemiro in midfield and dropped Richarlison and Neymar Junior in the lead alongside striker Gabi, with an injury preventing UEFA Champions League winner Thiago Silva from being out.
It was indeed Richarlison who presented the first decent threat 20 minutes from a Neymar free-kick, but the opportunity flew when the away team cleared.
Gabi had the ball in the net thanks to a compound finish four minutes into the half, but he was flagged for offside after running far ahead of the game.
With no replacement at the break and after a period of calm shortly after the restart, Brazil decided to call on Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus for teammate Fred.

This indeed proved manager Tite’s good choice as a Neymar ball midway through the second half led Richarlison to shoot past Dominguez from the left side of the six-yard zone.
Ecuador, who played the second fiddle throughout the game, now found the situation even more difficult after the breakthrough of the Selecao who, as expected, targeted more goals.
There was indeed a second in added time that Neymar executed from the penalty spot after a second attempt following an encroachment by substitute Roberto Firmino tripped in the box.
It’s a welcome victory for Tite, who sees his team keep their perfect start at the top of the standings.
